Stephanie Heit

Her most recent work, in 2008 and 2009, is in encaustic painting that combines her talents as a painter with this medium. She explores landscape by documenting the vastness and experience in the natural world. This may be walking through a winter forest laden with snow, the luminescence of late Fall light on water, the refraction of color in a mountain icefall or an undersea world of color and shape. She continues to work in oils, and her work there is primarily figurative set in the landscape. In oils, she has a painterly method that uses color and texture to evoke an emotional response.
